Choose a footwear protector for the exact upper material. A treatment may reduce surface wetting but cannot seal open seams, repair a failed membrane or turn every sneaker into waterproof footwear.

Commuting, boat shoes and seasonal rain
The material and construction matter more than a commuting or summer label. Check all panels, decorative coatings and trim. Boat-shoe soles, traction and slip resistance are separate from protection of the upper. Do not coat the sole to improve grip. A weather treatment cannot make footwear appropriate for unsafe conditions.
For snow and road salt, use the winter care guide . Remove contamination using the shoe maker’s instructions before treating again. Do not promise a stain-free season from any spray.
Apply the actual instructions
Clean first, then follow the specific wet-or-dry application directions. Nikwax’s wet-footwear method is not a universal spray method. Spot-test and allow the test area to dry; stop if colour or texture changes are unacceptable. Keep spray away from your face, follow ventilation and ignition precautions, and let footwear dry fully before use.
